Case Studies:

Maple cream glaze kitchen, Nevada City

We removed popcorn ceilings and old halfwall partitions to open up the space.  The new plank vinyl floor opens the kitchen, dining and living room into larger, comfortable space.  Modifications to the living room included a new remote control gas fireplace with tile surround, replacing the old wood burning stove and flagstone.

Lake Wildwood Master Bath

This Lake Wildwood remodel offered an opportunity to raise the ceilings and knock down a wall.  The result is a roomy master bath with walk in closet.  A dual vanity with extra lighting and make up mirror are matched by a full height linen cabinet on the opposite wall.  The shower includes a bench, hand held shower and ample grab bars.  The heavy glass door pivots to allow easy entry.

AFTER: Eight weeks later: 10' ceilings, heated tile floors, walk-in closet, dual vanity with Silestone counters, undermount sinks and glass mosiac tile splash, Toto one piece toilet. Cherry cabinets with tall storage cabinet with glass doors. Heavy glass pivot door with tile shower, including bench, personal spray, new window and nickel safety bars.

1940′s Bath Transformation

We retained the style of this mid-century home above Nevada City with this master bath.  The painted cabinetry provides extensive storage.  The Cambria countertops are light and bright.  The medicine cabinet is custom built to include a three way mirror and light fixtures above.

Master Bedroom Addition & Bath

Extensive exterior residing and window replacement updated this modern craftsman home on sunny acreage.  The lower bedroom was expanded with french doors leading to the pool.  A well appointed master bath and walk in closet were fit within the original bedroom.  The other side of the home bumped out to expand the mudroom  with roomy laundry and half bath.  Structural rebuilds of the deck and garage were also needed to bring this owner built home to meet building code.

New mudroom entry with fiberglass half lite door (for longevity in a sunny location). Plank vinyl flooring works well for pets and outdoor shoes. The windows are vinyl frame Milguard with low-e coating.

Master bedroom addition extended an existing post framed bedroom. There were structural beams four feet apart, which we mirrored in the addition. French doors lead to the pool. A drywall TV nook was created when the old water heater shed foundation stuck out beyond the addition.

A simple, but elegant shower with cubby for shampoo, grab bars, drilled towel bar on the pivoting door, and corner foot step.

NWe had a great time and reconnected with many past customers.  Andy Wright presented “The Seven Sins of Remodeling” on Saturday.  It was a provoking discussion about the various modes of remodeling.
